Chapter 16 gave me a lot of final advice, which helps me to think about my life.
The most impressive word for me is, "To achieve the ultimate level of skill in any profession- particularly the profession of leadership- means accepting a level of incompetence. It also means constantly raising the bar and learning the next task while maintaining a sense of poise, grace, and good humor."
It is hard to accept a level of incompetence, but I noticed that this accepting makes us to thrive.
I'd like to find myself rightly, and practice a skill which is lacking for me with time.
One of my friend gave me wonderful advice when I worried about my action, "You should take your stand where you can use your abilities fully.
I always remember this advise when I have to decide some important decision.
Also the part of Practice the Art of Thriving was very useful advises for me.
My mother is also very good at maintain these things, engaging in satisfying work, achieving a good relationship with others, and leading very healthy life, and good balancing work and family.
Using Perkins' advice and my mom's life as a reference, I'd like to pay attention to these important things and lead a good life.

7. Risk
“Risk management” is very famous word in the world. This is because we always surrounded by the risk and we need to reduce them as well as we can.
It is difficult to manage the risk, because it is hard to expect the danger and when it will happen. When everything doing well, we do not want to think about bad situation. However, it is necessary to prepare for the risk. It is late if we start to think about the bad situation when we face the difficult situation. Therefore, it is important to prepare for the possibility of the risk.
We cannot stave off a crisis, so we need to respond to the risk. Doing the risk management, we may be able to minimize the potential risk.
It is difficult to manage the risk, because it is hard to expect the danger and when it will happen. When everything doing well, we do not want to think about bad situation. However, it is necessary to prepare for the risk. It is late if we start to think about the bad situation when we face the difficult situation. Therefore, it is important to prepare for the possibility of the risk.

6. Conflict
I learned a lot of things from chapter 7 & 8 and the class that address the theme of conflict.
We talked that Japanese tend to avoid the conflict.
Many people think of the other person first, and they sometimes don't indicate their true feelings.
However, I learned that there are two types of conflict, which is Conflict-Negative Groups and Conflict-Positive Groups.
Perkins said, "It is vital to decide which battles are worth fighting and which are not."
I learned worth fighting will give us the chance to be better organization.
Those are important things to make a good organization managing conflict.
First, talking each other and think about the conflict.
Conflict will happen in any situation, time, and relationship.
At that time, we need to give our full attention to the problem as the whole of an organization.
Second, we need explore barriers and solutions.
The problem always have the barriers, and finding the barriers is the easy way to find solution.
Third, relationship is the keyword of the conflict.
According to Perkins, skillful executives avoid the tough issues or fail to create a climate in which conflict is freely expressed.
Also, finding something to celebrate and laugh about become concerned with relationship.
Of course, conflict is difficult things for us.

5. teamwork, and core team values
I think relationship between people and others, and sharing the information is important to do a good work as a team.
I belong to uni:cu, which is the circle that creates many kind of events for ICU students.
I respect my seniors at the point of organizing ability.
They especially good at sharing information using many tools, for example, web document, mailing list, etc.
Sharing the information, we check the present situation even we could not join a meeting, and we could learn role of one's own definitely.
To create one event as a team, everyone should know the all information, because the contents of the event or the way of attracting guests are all based on information.
Also, good relationship brings good effect.
I think we can sharing the identity or communicate each other deeply only when we could make a good relationship.
Not only active team mates, my seniors make good role as a bridge with old boy & old girls(people who is already graduated).
Having a talk with old boy and girls, we could search good solution.
It is essential because they are best adviser for us.
It is very hard to do a big project by oneself, we need a team of people to accomplish the plan.
Not only having a team of people, we need to organize the team nicely.

4. Stamina
To tell the truth, I think I am strong in body.
Because of this thought, sometimes I didn't take care of myself.
For example, cutting out sleeping, eating worse, and lacking exercise.
After reading chapter 4, I understood how important taking care of myself is and meaning of self control.
Reader needs to care about not only his/herself but also a team.
I strongly agree with the idea that if we cannot care about myself, we cannot care about the other people.
To care about myself, I think we need to live with desire on one level or another.
In my case, the example of my action which bad for health is the result that I did a lot of things which I wanted to do intolerantly.
If I could do something that has to be done first, I did not have to do ineffective things, and I could go to bed early.
If I could cut out nasty foods, I could maintain a healthy diet.
With a bit of concern, we can change our life, and take care of ourselves.

3. My thoughts
I would like to response to "Optimism and Reality"(chapter 3).
I am interested in chapter 3 because this chapter supported my thoughts.
In chapter 3, there are many quotations which amazing and thought-provoking phrase.
Perkins quotes Henry Ford; "Whether you think you can, or whether you can't, you're right"(qtd. in Perkins 43).
He also talked about "Janusian thinking"; "Janus, the Roman god of gates, was able to look in two directions at the same time. Effective leadership in demanding situations means being able to see the optimistic view and, at the same time, deal with stark reality"(Perkins 54).
I think that everyone may regret about their situation whether it comes from their own choice or not (fate which they can not decide or choose).
People may think about the other way, especially in serious situation.
In that situation, the best way I believe is learning from the regret.
Exploring the meaning of the situation, and talking to ourselves "what can I do in this situation?" is the things we should do.
I learned these things from my friend's death.
When I heard the death of my friends, of course, I really shocked.
After few weeks, I cried and cried, and I regretted a lot of things related to him.
However we (I and friends around me) noticed that it is no meaning to just regret the situation.
We promised ourselves that we will try to make good use of his death.
Death always makes us very sad, but I think we should change these sad things to meaningful incident.
It is not only death.
Therefore, I would like to explore the way which I can learn something from that incident in how difficult situation it is, and have a great deal of confidence about all my choice.
I would like to introduce my favorite phrase.
"We cannot change the past, and we cannot see the future, so we live 'now'".
